The Wider Christian Community
After attending a session about Faith Charities by the Charity Commission and a meeting held by the Evangelical Alliance, I’ve met Christians from different backgrounds, denominations and areas. When finding out that I was there with FGB here are some of the things I have heard:
"Goodness is that still going?"
"Didn't that used to be a big thing for Men's meetings?"
"I remember those dinners fondly"
"I used to go to the dinners a long time ago."
"Is that just for retired people?"
"I didn't know women were involved."
I always responded with enthusiasm and positivity, making sure I was motivated by the comments and not defensive. I was glad to be in the room. Making sure we FGB is represented, and seeing that we have work to do. Work that needs to be done quickly.
After some prayer and not being able to get to sleep, God gave me some directions for members, which you can read by clicking below.
Inspiration for the Future
During a conversation with an FGB member he mentioned a phrase that had been commented to him. Which when he said it out loud it took me by surprise.
It was a phrase that hit me differently, and got me thinking.
"FGB is that the place Elephants go to die?"
A comment that was made humorously, and a little negatively, but the comparison to elephants that intrigued me.
Elephants are remarkable creatures. They are known for their wisdom, strength, excellent memory, loyalty and unwavering commitment to their herd. The older elephants don’t simply survive, they lead. They remember the paths through difficult terrain, protect the vulnerable, and pass on their knowledge to the next generation.
Without them, the herd loses direction and valuable experience.
The same is true in the Kingdom of God. Many within FGB have walked with Jesus for decades and built friendships that have lasted for decades. They have weathered life’s storms, witnessed God’s faithfulness, seen prayers answered, shared their testimony countless times and learned lessons that no book can teach. Been moved by the Holy Spirit to take action and step out into unknow territory.
That wealth of spiritual experience is one of FGB’s greatest treasures, but it was never meant to be stored away. It was meant to be invested.
Imagine if every experienced member prayerfully committed to mentoring and bringing people in. Imagine if every testimony was shared, every lesson passed on and every younger believer encouraged to grow in their walk with Christ. Our chapters would become places where wisdom is multiplied, leaders are developed and disciples are raised up.
FGB isn't an elephant graveyard — it’ s a training ground. A Place where all can grow and thrive!
A place where spiritual parents equip the next generation. A place where experience becomes legacy, testimony becomes discipleship, and faith is intentionally passed from one generation to the next.
The future of FGB will not be secured simply by preserving what God has done in the past, but by investing what He has taught us into the lives of those He is bringing alongside us today.
A lot of our members were mentored by previous FGB members that have since passed on to glory. Our challenge is to make sure we are passing down the vision. Sharing the message of how to become one of THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ON EARTH!
